YouTube sensation to play in Melbourne CBD

Social media fans in Melbourne CBD may be interested in the fact that Conan Gray, US platinum singer/songwriter, and former YouTuber, is playing at the John Cain Arena in July, as part of a global tour.

Twenty-five year old Conan Lee Gray began his early career by uploading cover songs, vlogs and original work to YouTube at the tender age of fifteen. This led to a record deal and a debut EP, Sunset Season. Subsequent albums did well, including Found Heaven, released this year and debuting number 14 on the Billboard 200.

Gray cites many influences on his music, including Lorde, Adele and Billie Eilish. However, his primary muse is Taylor Swift and he declares:

“Thank you for being my lifelong songwriting inspiration and icon.”

Gray’s musical genre is billed as indie, acoustic and bedroom, under the umbrella of popular music. During the concert, Gray will be playing extensively from his latest album, Found Heaven, including the singles Lonely Dancers, and, more recently, Alley Rose, a piano-rock ballad, with a nod to 1970s Elton John.

Emerging artists often bolster their popularity with their fan base by releasing Promotional Products such as tee shirts and Posters at gigs.
