Native comic musical genius to come to Melbourne CBD

Those local to Melbourne CBD will have the privilege of being able to buy tickets for the upcoming show by celebrated Aussie Tim Minchin this coming October.

Minchin was working as a jobbing musician when he was scouted for the Edinburgh Fringe festival in 2005. He went on to win the Perrier Best Newcomer Award, before starting to tour internationally, including selling out the O2 and the Royal Albert Hall in the UK, as well as the Sydney Opera House.

Commissioned by the RSC to write the music and lyrics for stage show Matilda in 2009, he garnered huge critical acclaim, winning many plaudits including the prestigious Olivier and Tony Awards. Still touring internationally, the production based on Roahl Dahl’s novel continues to delight. 2022 saw the cinematic release of Matilda the Musical, including a new song written by Minchin, to accompany twelve of his from the original theatre production.

Aside from this, he has appeared in Jesus Christ Superstar on stage, as well as having a part in the acclaimed TV series, Upright. He wrote the stage musical adaption of Groundhog Day, and continues to create albums and tour the world.
