Melbourne to welcome UK singer for the first time

Music fans in Melbourne CBD and beyond will be likely to embrace the long-awaited tour by English singer/songwriter Rex Orange County, as he plays to antipodean audiences as part of the “Live in New Zealand, Australia and Asia Tour 2023”.

Born Alexander James O’Connor in 1998, Rex Orange County grew up with a love of music, having been in the school choir at age five. O’Connor attended the BRIT school at sixteen where he became a drummer, standing him in good stead to work with lots of other musicians. After self-releasing an album in 2015, O’Connor caught the attention of English producer Two Inch Punch and American rapper Tyler the Creator. Two Inch Punch has continued to collaborate with the artist.

The artist’s latest album release was “Who Cares?” in March 2022, a record which topped the UK Albums Chart. Rex Orange County fans can expert to hear numerous songs from the album during the concert. Musical events are often accompanied by merchandise produced in local Print shops. O’Connor cites his influences growing up as Stevie Wonder, ABBA, Queen and Green Day, to name a few.
