The Melbourne International Singers Festival 2021 is being brought to Melbourne CBD this June by Play it Forward.
The festival is aimed at school and community choirs, as well as solo singers. The theme of the event is ‘HOME’, which will be explored via singing this year. Kirby Shaw, who hails from the United States and is a pop, swing and jazz choral arrangements expert, will be showcasing his work ‘Turn the World Around’ for the first time in Australia.
Along with Shaw, Dr. Nela Trifkovic, a Bosnian-Australian artist, will be conducting the Women’s Festival Chorus, while Patrick Burns, the winner of a Tinter award, will be the guest conductor for the men’s Festival Chorus. Festivals like this can be effectively targeted to schools and choirs via poster printing, with Posters placed in open community spaces.
Interested parties will need to register for the festival, with registration covering entrance to all workshops, masterclasses, concerts, choruses and performances, excluding special events. Those that register as a choir or singing group of 10 or more people will receive complimentary registration for their Music Director and Accompanist.
The Melbourne International Singers Festival 2021 will take place over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, from 11th June to 14th June. The venue for the event is the Deakin Edge Theatre, located at Federation Square. It is easily accessible by walking distance from Flinders Street Station.
