Lonsdale Greek Festival to visit Melbourne for 33rd time

For the 33rd year in a row, the Lonsdale Greek Festival will be taking place in Melbourne over a weekend during February.

It is the longest running festival in Melbourne and brings together Greek culture through food, art, and entertainment. Due to the enormity of the festival, it will run all down Lonsdale Street from Swanston Street to Exhibition Street, making it accessible via trams and trains near Flinders Station and Parliament Station.

Entertainment at the festival will be in the form of musicians, dancers, cooking demonstrations, children’s rides, and competitions. Last year, the most popular performance was Greek singer Eleonera Zounganelli in her first Australian concert outdoors.

Approximately 150,000 people attended the festival and over 400,000 individuals watched the live stream over the two days, which included offshore viewers in the United States and in Europe.

The numbers highlight the popularity of the event as well as the usefulness of marketing to attract people to the two-day festival. Stallholders and stage performers typically apply to participate in the event months before the festival date. This is also when they start their marketing activity.

A food establishment may use poster printing to announce their participation a festival such as this. To further entice customers, they may also use Posters to announce that they are launching special themed dishes specifically for the event.

The Lonsdale Greek Festival will be taking place on February 29th and March 1st.
