Labour Day to include long-running Melbourne event

The Moomba Festival in Melbourne, which has been a popular tradition over the Labour Day long weekend in the city since 1955, is set to stop by for another year.

Held over four days, this will be the 63rd time this free festival has been staged and there will be many attractions and activities to suit all comers.

Events will include the traditional Moomba Parade and the Birdman Rally, as well as puppets, movies and, of course, fireworks. Local performers will be present to entertain visitors, and food and drink stalls will be offering everything from pork belly sliders and barbecues to Greek donuts and ice creams. Healthy food options will also be available.

Traditionally, Moomba Monarchs are selected and crowned every year as part of the celebrations. These Kings and Queens take on the role of ambassadors for the festival and are an integral part of the Moomba Parade. This year, local chef and restaurateur Guy Grossi and chef, food editor and television presenter, Karen Martini will be crowned the Monarchs. Festivals such as this usually include banner printing and Signs, while stall holders may provide premium Business Cards.
