Its Geek Time in Melbourne: Oz Comic Con
A feature on every comic fan’s calendar this month is the Oz Comic Con, held at the Melbourne Exhibition centre this year.
More than just the coming together of pop-culture enthusiasts, the event is designed to be educational and interactive, with fans being able to meet celebrities such as the incredibly famous Stan Lee, as well as actors such as Jason Momoa (Stargate, Game of Thrones), Patrick Stewart (Star Trek, X-Men) and a lot of other actors and artists.
The event is going to be packed with activities and signings, merchandise stalls and 'cosplay', where fans dress up as their favourite TV, Manga and comic book characters. Printing companies will be required to print reams of material for such an enormous event - catalog printing and stationary printing will be required for all the merchandising, not to mention business card printing for stores to reach out to their target market. Of course, all the flyer printing and poster printing that will be needed not only to advertise the event, but also to sell to the fans who want their favourite celebrities up on their walls.
The convention is a weekend affair, running from the 30th of June till the 1st of July 2012 in Melbourne. Tickets are available online, at the Oz Comic Con website, as well as at the door. A single day entry will cost $20 for adults, $10 for children. Weekend passes will be $35 and $17.50 respectively. Infants under 4 get free entry.
