Cocktail fans to enjoy pre-opera treat

Opera lovers in and around Melbourne CBD may be keen to attend the Elektra Pre-Show Cocktail Function before the performance of Victorian Opera’s Elektra next month.

Elektra, written by Richard Strauss, is based on Greek mythology. The opera draws on the tragedy by Sophocles, whereby Elektra obsessively plots to avenge her father’s murder. The title role in this performance is played by Catherine Foster, the British dramatic soprano, and the orchestra is conducted by Richard Mills. The cocktail event will no doubt help to enhance the operatic experience for the audience.

Victorian Opera, founded in 2005, aims to make opera an accessible and affordable choice for the masses, bringing talent through the Victorian Opera Youth Chorus Ensemble (VOYCE) and a Livestream Program.

Events like the opera and the Pre-Show Cocktail event may be heavily advertised in a local area by Posters featuring an eye-catching graphic design.

The pre-opera event is to be hosted by Coriole, the partner of Victorian Opera, and quality wines and canapes will be on offer for attendees. Tickets cost $60 each and are for the cocktail reception only; tickets for the performance of Elektra must be bought separately.

The Elektra Pre-Show Cocktail Function will take place on Wednesday, 14th September at 6.30pm on the Bombini Buzz Mezzanine at the Arts Centre Melbourne and it will last for an hour.
