Baz Luhrmann-inspired musical to visit Melbourne CBD

Moulin Rouge! the Musical was eagerly anticipated in Melbourne just out of lockdown, and it will now be equally as welcome for fans in and around Melbourne CBD.

Moulin Rouge! was the jukebox film that graced cinema screens in 2001. Director Baz Luhrmann brought to life the infamous club situated in Paris in the late 1880s, which had its heyday in the so-called Belle Epoque (Beautiful Era), that ended with the outbreak of WWI.

The can-can is the famous dance that had its origins here, with dancers kicking their shapely legs to reveal the iconic frilled underskirts beneath bright dresses. In 2014, Moulin Rouge! celebrated its 125th anniversary, and remains a significant draw for visitors to Paris today.

Moulin Rouge! the Musical premiered in Boston in 2018 and won ten awards, including for Best Musical in the Tony Awards. As a modern 'jukebox’ musical, the score includes many modern songs, spanning decades of popular tunes. Since its inception in 2018, the musical has always been performing somewhere in the world.

Poster printing is an integral part of advertising musicals such as this, to inform local audiences and tourists of upcoming tour dates.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is taking place on 15th December at 7.30pm until 10.30pm at the Regent Theatre, 191 Collins Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000. Tickets cost from $69.
