The event will be open to all, regardless of fitness levels and abilities, and is designed for all to enjoy.
Active April is part of Active Banyule 2025 to 2029. This is a plan created by the council focusing on increasing recreation, sport and physical activity in the area. This is an important strategy for the council, as the Australian National Preventive Health Strategy 2021-2030 states that:
“Increasing physical activity through sport and recreation helps to improve the health and wellbeing of all Australians at all stages of life.”
The plan looks at community priorities, identifying barriers to participation and looks at what opportunities there might be in the future. The Older Adults Walk-a-thon in April fits neatly into the initiative as it is an activity that most can enjoy without much experience. The event will also hopefully create ties within the community as they share a convivial lunch after the walk.
Local events such as this are often promoted by the use of flyer printing, undertaken at Print shops within the area.
The Older Adults Walk-a-thon is taking place on Tuesday 29th April, from 9:30am until 1pm. The venue is Willinda Park Athletics Track, 1 Beatrix Street, Greensborough. The event is free to participate, but attendees should book a place in advance.Get a Free Quote for Print
