Greensborough residents set to battle their pocket monsters

Fans of Pokémon can battle with others in the Pokémon universe during an evening of challenges and victories at the Good Game Store next week.

Pokémon is an abbreviation of Pocket Monsters and is synonymous with the franchise and its 908 fictional characters. People take on the role of Pokémon Trainers, who set out to catch and train the characters to fight other Pokémon characters, the goal being ultimately winning the Pokémon League.

Although the franchise began as a video game in 1996, it soon became adopted by various other media. The Pokémon Trading Card Game is the most popular trading card game (TCG) in the world, with upwards of 34 billion cards purchased. Organisers of such events will often distribute promotional Pens at such events as souvenirs for enthusiastic players.

The Good Game Store is part of a worldwide group of dedicated game spaces with space to suit all kinds of games and it offers daytime and evening playing hours. There is also access to all the latest relevant games.

The Pokémon-Constructed-Poké-Mon-day event will take place at the Good Game Store at 61 Main Street, Greensborough on 13th June, from 6pm until 9.30pm. Admission is $10. Prizes are available, including booster packs, which can be swapped for $5 in-store credit. This event is part of a recurring series.
