Green fingers catered for in Greensborough

Growing indoor plants has never been more popular, and residents of Greensborough can sign up to a terrarium workshop where they can learn how to plant up a glass container as an attractive centrepiece.

Terrariums are generally glass containers, jars or bottles that are sealed with a removable lid, and which contain plants that thrive specifically in the enclosed conditions. In a sealed bottle, water vapour condenses onto the glass sides and then runs down into the soil to be reused by the plant roots. This creates a mini ecosystem. Unsealed terrariums will generally be hosts to plants that require drier conditions, such as cacti.

At the Terrarium Workshop, attendees will be provided with the glass vessel and cork lid, the specialist growing medium and the plants. Ella will be on hand to offer expert one-to-one advice and to help create a striking composition with plants that complement each other. Organisers of such workshops often provide printed instructions to take away for use at home, which are often produced by local Print shops.

The Terrarium Workshop takes place on Friday 19th April, from 6.30pm until 8.30pm, at Shop 250, Level 2, Green Indoor Jungle, Greensborough Plaza. A ticket costs $150. All materials are provided, and the event is hosted by Ella, from Terrariums by Ella. Both beginners and seasoned enthusiasts are welcome.
