Band to play nostalgic tribute in Greensborough

Lovers of rock music of yesteryear in and around Greensborough may want to purchase tickets to see a tribute to Wings.

Sir Paul McCartney, arguably one of the most recognisable pop stars of the last few decades, once fronted this well-known band. He formed Wings in 1971 with his wife Linda, who played the keyboard, Denny Selwell, who was the drummer, and Denny Laine, who featured on guitar.

The band changed line-ups several times, but the McCartneys and Laine were always present until the group dispersed in 1981.

Throughout the 10-year life span, the band produced many notable hits, including Listen to What The Man Said, Silly Love Songs and Mull of Kintyre, which has become one of the best-selling singles of all time. The release of the album Band on the Run in 1973 spawned the hits Jet and the title track.

In an upcoming evening, The Beatles Legacy tribute act will be performing hits from Wings while also delving into the Beatles songbook, with greats such as Hey Jude, Let It Be and Saw Her Standing.

Promotions for musical events often utilise poster printing within the local community.

Wingspan – Celebrating the Songs of Paul McCartney will take place on Friday, 15 November from 6.30 pm until 11 pm at Greensborough RSL, 111 Main Street, Greensborough. Tickets cost $67.90, and include dinner.
