Seniors and grandchildren invited to virtual storytelling session

As part of the Glen Eira City Council Seniors Festival, Caulfield grandparents and their grandchildren will have the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of the First Nations people through a storytelling session to be held virtually.

The council has reformatted the Seniors Festival for 2020 to account for the lockdown measures currently in place in Melbourne and Victoria, and all sessions, events and workshops have been moved online.

The storytelling will be led by Aunty Fay Stewart-Muir, an educator, mentor, author, community leader and elder of the Wamba Wamba, Boon Wurrung and Wergiai clans.

Stewart-Muir’s achievements were recently recognised by the Victorian Honour Roll of Women for her significant contribution to Australia and in particular Victoria, where she works as a Koori Court Elder and prison educator. She also works with the Department of Education and Training Victoria to provide curriculum and cultural advice.

Councils often employ Graphic Design Services to ensure marketing material for council-sponsored events like this is eye-catching and effective in securing the attention of targeted groups.

For more information about this event and other Seniors Festival activities, see the Glen Eira City Council website. The storytelling session will be held at 2pm on Thursday, October 29, and anyone wishing to attend this virtual storytelling session will need to register beforehand.
