Public to have a say on shaping shopping strips in Glen Eira

Caulfield residents, business owners and workers have been invited to take part in a major survey being conducted by the City of Glen Eira, Victoria.

The community survey, which will span the entire city, will allow respondents to share thoughts and ideas relating to their shopping experience within the 17 local shopping strips.

According to Glen Eira Council Mayor Mary Delahunty, the survey will include community consultation sessions, the results of which will help shape the planning and vision of local shopping strips in the future.

The targeted shopping hubs are Caulfield, Caulfield South, Caulfield Park, Ripponlea, Patterson, Ormond, Murrumbeena, McKinnon, Hughesdale, Gardenvale, Bentleigh East, Alma Village, Glenhuntly, Moorabbin, Elsternwick, Carnegie and Bentleigh.

Mayor Delahunty said the survey provides an ideal opportunity for everyone to identify key issues or benefits of shopping locally.

Comments can cover everything from the sale of Promotional Products and Holiday Cards, to types of services and retail outlets on offer in the shopping strips.

The Mayor said the centres are currently the focus of significant infrastructure projects, including station works, level crossing removals, and new developments, but what council is seeking from community members is an idea of how they would like to see the precinct in 20 years.

Results of the survey, which concludes in February 2017, will help guide Council’s future decisions on services, community facilities, types of retail outlets, parking, transport, private development and open space.
