Caulfield, Victoria is to receive a new park following the development’s recent approval by the Glen Eira City Council.
Approved in conjunction with the Open Space Strategy of Council, the project will provide an additional facility for Caulfield North residents.
According to Mayor Jim Magee, the creation of the new park will see an unnamed road closed between Fitzgibbon Crescent and Eskdale Road.
He said a beautification programme will be undertaken beside footpaths to the park involving the establishment of low level plants, shaped lawn areas and the use of water sensitive urban design ideas.
He added that a central seating area in the new park will be a key feature, along with two well-established plane trees that are hardy, resistant to pollution, and effective shade umbrellas.
Often featured on postcard printing in their native areas such as Mexico, North America and Eurasia, the plane trees are expected to be an eye-catching element within the green environment to be created in the new park, according to the mayor.
He said residents would benefit in many ways from the establishment of the new park, which will include a number of natural features and also provide the public with another attraction towards promoting a walk-friendly neighbourhood.
Additional tree plantings, small grassed areas, garden beds and a new pathway will accompany the central seating in the new park.
