The Summer Reading Club, which is held annually, is free for kids aged from as young as 5 to the age of 16.
According to Mayor of Kingston Steve Staikos, the club not only encourages children to broaden their interests but also to maintain their level of excitement for the written word and the stories told by published authors.
“There’s no need to be bored these school holidays when you can lose yourself in a world of adventure through the pages of a favourite book.
“Young people can win a whole host of small prizes along the way and go into our major prize draw for an iPad, $100 Westfield voucher and $50 Dymocks voucher."
Mayor Staikos urged children to sign up and start reading for a chance to become a winner.
Participants can collect the Summer Reading Club packs from the local branch of the library which are located at Chelsea, Cheltenham, Clarinda, Dingley Village, Westall, Patterson Lakes, Parkdale, Moorabbin and Highett. Flyer printing is often used to promote events such as this.
Kingston Libraries in conjunction with the Australian Library and Information Association run the Summer Reading Club which is also supported by Penguin and the Mordialloc-Mentone Lions Club.
