The TAFE Teacher Training Scholarship was launched by Minister for Skills and Training Gayle Tierney, who said that there would be 200 scholarships for $10,000 worth of study assistance on offer to industry experts in areas such as electro-technology, construction, community and health services. Printing services can be used to create promotional materials spreading awareness of scholarships like this.
Tierney said demand at TAFEs was rising rapidly, and the scholarships are set to boost teacher numbers to meet student demand. She added:
“The TAFE Teaching Scholarship program is all about harnessing the skills and knowledge of our fantastic industry experts to give students the highest quality, industry-focused training.”
The minister said a 2019 initiative to introduce free courses at TAFE had attracted 87,200 students, who were now gaining high-quality training for some of the most in-demand employment roles in Victoria.
The new scholarship programme has also provided an attractive alternative for industry experts who have been affected or displaced due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Registered nurse Ian Balducci and electrician Bec Newman are already teaching students at Chisholm TAFE about their individual trades as part of the new programme.
Investment by the State Government in supporting higher education and universities as well as rebuilding TAFE has been provided to help more Victorians undertake the training they require to acquire in-demand jobs.
