Braeside, Victoria, small food business owners have an opportunity to discover practical ways to start or progress their operations towards future success at a special workshop to be held in conjunction with the Small Business Festival 2016.
The Business of Food workshop is open to participants from throughout the Kingston Council area and will be run by My Other Kitchen’s Jane Del Rosso and Carlos Swinton-Lee of the Bar and Restaurant Consultants.
A Council spokesman said the workshops are ideal for anyone who has a packaged food product business or those who dream of café ownership in the future.
He urged participants to take along note pads to jot down the many practical tips presenters will provide to help establish or grow a business further.
The event will incorporate both the Retail Stream and the Café Stream.
The spokesman said the Retail Stream will focus on what is needed to start a new business, food product launches and the transition from handmade goods to its arrival on retail shelves.
He said the session will provide a clear picture of the steps involved to launch a food product including the timeline involved and tasks such as target market identification, product development, responsibilities in relation to current food laws, business registration and marketing services required to help attract customers.
The Café Stream will deal with research, concept development, forecasting financials, menu development, marketing and more.
The workshop will be held on August 10 at Kingston Council.
