Environmentally friendly business on the agenda in Kingston

Businesses from Braeside, and across the City of Kingston, are being invited to attend the next Sustainable Business Breakfast in November.

The event is aimed at firms that want to know more about improving their work practices to help the environment, and developing partnerships with other sustainable businesses.

At next month's breakfast, there will be a short presentation on the Operation Clean Sweep Programme, which is designed to stop resin pellets and waste entering waterways. Firms will be asked to support the scheme and can get more information on what they can do to help.

The breakfast is likely to be a good networking opportunity, so participants should make sure they take Business Cards along with them.

The Sustainable Business Network also promotes ASPIRE, the advisory system for processing, innovation, and resource exchange that is already used by a number of Braeside businesses, including wrapping paper production firm, WrapCo which gives its paper offcuts that cannot be recycled to building products company Casafico. Casafico then turns the waste paper into plasterboard or as a base for concrete finishes.

The breakfast will be held on Thursday, November 12, at Woodlands Golf Club from 7:30 am. The event is $25 but the workshop can be attended free of charge if a company does not want to be part of the whole event. Places must be booked in advance through Kingston City Council.
