Print companies across Melbourne will be getting ready for the New Year celebrations, as people start planning parties for friends, family members and work colleagues. With the city council recently announcing its plans too, 2014 is really starting to get close.
The upcoming Melbourne City Council New Year event will naturally include a fireworks display, which this year will comprise 22 firing sites. This will include 16 rooftop locations.
Put on at a cost of more than $340,000, the display will last for the first 10 minutes of 2014.
Visitors from across the state are expected to attend, with flyer printing likely to start soon to advertise the event. With Posters being printed up and Banners going up at the 'key live viewing areas', the council is advising people to head for one of four nominated areas.
Along with Docklands, Treasury Garden and Flagstaff Gardens, the Kings Domain site is handily located near to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.
As well as the display itself to look forward to, anyone heading to one of the four areas will be able to enjoy live entertainment, which will be running from 9:00pm until 1:00am. Food and drink will also be available on-site.
A countdown to midnight will kick off just before the big year change, with a 100-to-one format set to replace the more traditional ten point call.
According to the organisers, a crowd of more than 55,000 is expected to attend the event, with people coming from nearby suburbs like Braeside and Springvale.
