An exhibition featuring a local portrait artist will be on show at a historic civic building serving the Box Hill South area this year.
Residents who appreciate art can attend this upcoming exhibition, which is titled “Askolds Petersons: A Way of Seeing”. The multi-date event will showcase portraiture created by the local artist.
Professional artists who paint portraits sometimes use business card printing services to create contact cards carrying their details to include in portfolios when seeking new clients.
After following his father into the field of architecture, the medium of portraiture later let Petersons free his storytelling by putting oil paint to canvas. The artist uses expressive strokes to capture the essence of his sitter, whether they are youthful in body or spirit.
An established member of the local Whitehorse Arts Association, Petersons is also a draftsman and observes the built-in environment and community of the area. The works on show will include a self-portrait he painted in 2023 using oil paints.
Askolds Petersons: A Way of Seeing will now be on display at Artspace in Box Hill Town Hall from Saturday, 30 May to Saturday, July 18. The free exhibit is open from 10 am to 4 pm Tuesday to Friday and between 12 pm and 4 pm on Saturdays. The National Trust-registered building can be found at 1022 Whitehorse Road in Box Hill.
