Family anime event to take place in Adelaide

Families in the Adelaide area might enjoy a cosplay event as part of the OzAsia Festival.

Japanese pop culture is set to be celebrated at the 10th annual AnimeGO at the festival. Presented by the Japan Australia Friendship Association (JAFA), attendees are invited to dress up if they wish and enter the worlds of manga and anime, while exploring the monsters and spirits that are prevalent in Japanese folklore.

There will also be a four-koma manga competition, with the top 20 entries being on display during the event.

There will also be premieres of short anime films. There will be live music, retro arcade games with favourites such as Super Mario Bros and Donkey Kong, and a karaoke booth. Traditional Japanese street food will be available to purchase, which might include onigiri, taiyaki, yakisoba and yakitori. Stallholders will also be selling Japanese pop culture-themed items, such as character collectibles, action figures and Stationery from brands such as Sanrio (Hello Kitty), Studio Ghibli and Pokémon.

The organisers of large city-wide events might make use of banner printing in order to advertise in the locality.

The AnimeGO! Japanese Pop Culture Festival is taking place on 25 October at the Dom Polski Centre, 230 Angas Street, Adelaide. This is a family-friendly event, with tickets costing from $10. The event runs for six hours.
