Teenagers living in and around Richlands can soon attend a holiday workshop that aims to help them deal with peer pressure.
Hosted by Youth of Chinmaya Mission (CHYK) Brisbane, the annual teenage workshop serves to help young people navigate the expectation of their peers, and is aimed at those in school years 7 to 12.
The workshop will include discussions, singing, activities, games and support in building life skills, all in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Some of the topics touched on will include bullying, relationships and the need to fit in, which most teenagers will experience to some degree.
The workshop is led by Swami Shrikarananda. Along with being a skilled mentor and teacher, he is also a monk and the resident teacher for the Chinmaya Mission. The event organisers say that he is admired and loved by those that know him, and that he is the ideal leader for the Teenage Holiday Workshop.
All attending are advised to bring along a water bottle, hat, running shoes, and a notebook and pen. Handouts that support such courses are often produced at local Print shops.
The Southside Teenage Holiday Workshop: Uncovering Our Inner Identity is taking place on Tuesday, 1 July, from 8 am until 4.30 pm. The venue is the CJ Greenfield Community Hall on Freeman Road in Richlands. Tickets cost $55. Snacks and lunch are included.Get a Free Quote for Print
