West End drama arriving in Milton

Theatregoers in the Milton area who follow shows in London’s West End will probably be keen to purchase tickets for the Australian premiere of David Eldridge’s sold-out London play, Beginning.

Beginning is a two-handed play and the first of a trilogy of plays exploring relationships. Popular when it opened at the National Theatre in 2017, it went on to garner great reviews when it transferred to the West End in January 2018 for a limited time. Just this year, the show was well received at The Royal Exchange in Manchester. Often, plays of this nature are advertised in the community by means of poster printing in local Print shops.

The plot is set during a housewarming party in London, where the host, Laura, and the last remaining guest, Danny, a friend of a friend, start to talk and open up to each other over fish-finger sandwiches, dancing and in turn sharing thoughts about their loneliness and isolation. A WhatsOnStage review claimed the show:

“was incredibly funny but sometimes so truthful it’s almost too painful to watch.”

Beginning is being shown at the PIP Theatre on 20 Park Road, Milton, QLD 4064 from Thursday, July 13 until Saturday, July 29, with shows on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays during the run. Tickets cost from $36, with a 2.30pm matinee on Saturdays only. This is the Australian premiere.
