Milton to host children's story-telling day

Parents and carers are sure to understand the importance of stories and reading to little ones, which is why a free story-telling session in the park for those in the Milton area might be just the ticket.

Brisbane City Council, in conjunction with the Queensland Government, is involved with the First 5 Forever story-time event at the Pop-up Library in Frew Park. The session is interactive and includes songs to encourage joining in, as well as storytelling.

The First 5 Forever initiative supports the research showing that if babies and toddlers are encouraged to talk, read, sing and play, this helps to set them up for educational success and encourages a lifelong love of learning. After birth, as a multitude of brain connections are being formed, external, positive stimuli in a nurturing relationship are key to helping make children content, inquisitive and happy.

There are a huge number of Books written for children of this age – the most enduringly popular being The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson, The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr and The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. These, and stories like these, are bound to be a hit at the story-time session. Promotional Products such as bookmarks may also be available to purchase on the day.

Children’s Storytime in the Park takes place on Friday 8th September, from 9.30am until 10am. The venue is Frew Park, 315 Milton Road, Milton. Booking is not required as places are free, and the stories are suitable for 0-5 years old.
