Milton residents to experience art outdoors

The Brisbane City Council has produced an ‘Outdoor Gallery’ of striking and informative artworks for residents to view while enjoying the outdoors.

The Razzle Dazzle exhibition is centered in the city’s streets and laneways and has recently extended out to the Howard Smith Wharves. The city’s streets and laneways have been transformed into interesting and enchanting spaces by the use of projections, light Boxes, Banners and a vitrine, or glass display case, placed at the corner of Queen and Edwards Streets.

The exhibition looks at public spaces and the people who use them. The artists involved have used colour, patterns and other adornments to study ideas of camouflage, spectacle and identity.

Walking tours of the gallery are available free of cost and are lead by either curators or featured artists. The curators of the exhibition will also give a series of talks throughout the duration of the outdoor exhibition.

Artists featured in the Outdoor Gallery include Jemima Wyman, Gerwyn Davies, Luke Roberts, Rachael Haynes, Hannah Gartside, Justin Shoulder and Bhenji Ra.

Artists, including some of the artists in this exhibition, often use banner printing either as part of an artwork or to advertise artworks.

Brisbane City Council's Outdoor Gallery will be on display until Sunday, November 22 and Milton residents are encouraged to get outside and enjoy the exhibitions.
