Milton residents chance to tour iconic Clock Tower

Residents of Milton are invited to get to know Brisbane’s magnificent Clock Tower when tours of the heritage-listed building resume this month.

Considered a ‘must do’ for Brisbane residents and visitors alike, the guided tour offers participants a wonderful view over the city of Brisbane – a view that has changed substantially in the 90 years since the tower was built.

The tower was the tallest building in the city for many years, from its completion in 1930 until 1970, when the Westpac Building was built. The tallest building in Brisbane is currently the Brisbane Skytower, which stands at 274 metres.

The guided tours begin at the Museum of Brisbane and are limited to three people per tour, as they also include a trip in a cage lift – one of Brisbane’s oldest of these styles of lift. The tour also takes a peek behind the largest analogue clock in Australia, and gives participants time to have a look around the observation platform and view the city from all angles.

Tour organisers sometimes use Business Cards to hand out to participants so they can encourage others to take such tours.

Tours run every 15 minutes from 10:15am until 4:45pm, and they will be running daily from Monday to Saturday. For more information or to book a tour, see the Museum of Brisbane website.
