Businesses in Milton and the surrounding suburbs are starting preparations for what is expected to be a bumper Saturday when the Wallabies face South Africa in their 2016 Rugby Championship third round match next month.
This year’s Rugby Championship will return to the normal six-round format, having been reduced last year due to the Rugby World Cup, and will see Australia face New Zealand, Argentina, and South Africa.
The Wallabies hold an excellent record against the Springboks in Brisbane, having won all eight encounters at Suncorp since South Africa returned to international rugby post-apartheid, and a huge crowd is expected for this eagerly awaiting clash.
Last year’s clash saw a crowd of 37,633 witness an exciting last minute Wallabies victory and organisers expect a similar sized crowd for the upcoming match. With free transport available to match ticket holders on Brisbane Transport Bus and Queensland Rail services, and the deal running from four hours before kick-off until four hours after full time, it’s expected that thousands of fans will head out early to visit the restaurants, bars and breweries near the stadium. Local traders will be hoping for another Wallabies win, which will encourage many fans to stay around afterwards to celebrate the victory.
Wallabies-themed merchandise such as Calendars, Posters, and scarves plus special offers on food and drink will be available in many of the local businesses as they look to take advantage of the huge visitor numbers expected.
Tickets for the match, which takes place on September 10, are still available at the Ticketek website.Get a Free Quote for Posters Get a Free Quote for Calendars
