Children from Milton, Queensland, are among thousands of youngsters set to take part in the 2016 Out of the Box celebration.
The biennial festival, to be held at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), is aimed at children up to eight years old.
A QPAC spokesman said the festival is testament to the centre’s history of leading the way in programming for small children, and nurturing their imagination and creativity.
The importance and value of the arts in life-learning and education is celebrated throughout the festival and through full colour printing of promotional Signs and Brochures.
The spokesman said the eight-day Out of the Box festival was full of colour and cultural activities crafted to support and celebrate learning, curiosity, discovery and play for the entire family as they grow and learn together.
He said the programme of activities this year will explore children’s expertise, as well as the concept that they are all insightful, thoughtful and valuable members of society who contribute a great deal to civic life.
The event, from June 21 to 28, will also put the spotlight on young people’s engagement and connection with Asian and Indigenous culture, especially art Forms and customs of the Indian cultures.
Out of the Box has been held across Brisbane’s Cultural Precinct biannually since 1992, with events taking place at QPAC, Queensland Art Gallery including the Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Museum and the State Library of Queensland.
