Awards to showcase top training achievers

Nominations are now being called from employers, VET students, trainers and apprentices in Milton and throughout the state for the Queensland Training Awards.

The 59th awards will shine a light on the state’s best training achievers from a strong field of training organisations, employers, teachers, trainees and apprentices, according to Training Skills Development Minister, Shannon Fentiman who added:

“These long-running and highly regarded training awards celebrate how vocational education and training launches careers, grows businesses and is key to making sure we have the highly skilled workforce we need for the jobs now and into the future.”

She said nine from 10 jobs in the future are expected to require a vocational education and training (VET) qualification. The Minister explained that entries can be self-nominated or submitted by others across 11 categories.

Last year the awards attracted 860 nominations and resulted in 80 Queensland Training Awards finalists together with 11 Australian Training Awards finalists and two winners nationally. The International Training Provider of the Year was won by TAFE Queensland.

Prestigious awards such as these can be an impressive inclusion on Business Cards.

This year’s awards will include seven finals to be held regionally in July with winners to progress to a gala dinner later in the year, at which finalists of the Premier’s Industry Collaboration Award and Small and Large Training Provider of the Year will also be in attendance.

Applications close on March 31 with winners named at a special gala event in September.
