Locals invited to Story Bridge birthday party

Fortitude Valley residents can help to celebrate the 75th anniversary of nearby landmark Story Bridge this year.

Brisbane City Council is marking the 75th birthday of the heritage-listed bridge with a special event that will see the bridge closed to traffic and open to pedestrians only.

The Eat Street Markets will be relocated to the bridge for the day, with around 80 stalls and 20 food trucks taking part.

The event is likely to be very popular, so food stall owners should think about using flyer printing to publicise their Menus to the crowds throughout the day.

A number of bands will also play live and there will be displays from the history of the bridge’s 75 years.

Tickets have been limited due to space and safety considerations, and visits will be limited to one of three time slots. As the event is likely to be very popular, Fortitude Valley residents should get in quick when the next set of tickets is released on Monday, June 1st.

Tickets are free, but visitors are encouraged to make a gold coin donation on entry or exit, which will be given to the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Fund in support of charities working with needy people across the city.

The event takes place on Sunday, July 5th from 11am to 4pm. For more information, see the Brisbane City Council website.
