Indie British singer to play songs from debut album

Fans of meaningful lyrics with an indie flavour in Fortitude Valley will be keen to attend a concert by the young British singer-songwriter known as Arlo Parks.

Fresh from an appearance at the Glastonbury festival in the UK, Parks – whose real name is Anais Oluwatoyin Estelle Marinho – is now embarking on her Collapsed in Sunbeams Tour, which is also making stops across Europe and North America, including a slot at the notable Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.

Parks released her debut album, Collapsed in Sunbeams, in 2021. The album was nominated for many awards and eventually was crowned the Hyundai Mercury Prize Best Album, a title coveted by many serious artists. The judge who presented this award said:

“We chose an artist with a singular voice who uses lyrics of remarkable beauty…and connects deeply with her generation as she does so.”

Parks is known for her poetic, often emotional lyrics that deal with emotions such as heartbreak and loss. She cites her influences as a range of artists, including Radiohead and Joni Mitchell. Promoters of events featuring new artists will make huge efforts to publicise such events in the neighbourhood using Posters and Banners created by local printing services.

The Fortitude Valley stop on Arlo Parks’ Collapsed in Sunbeams Tour will take place on Thursday, 11th August at The Tivoli on 52 Costin Street, with doors opening at 7 pm. Tickets are general admission standing and cost $69.90.
