Lovers of long-established new wave bands in the area of Fortitude Valley may wish to attend an upcoming performance by popular band The The.
The band will be playing at a local venue next month as part of their Ensouled World Tour. The music group has been making music now for over 40 years, and last visited Australia six years ago, when concerts in Melbourne and Sydney were sold out.
Lead singer Matt Johnson first became part of a band at age 11, and became part of the music industry with a job at just 15. Multi-talented, the reportedly reclusive Johnson is also a soundtrack composer, broadcaster, publisher and activist.
In 2018, Johnson got the band together again for international appearances, culminating in The Comeback Special tour. Johnson is the only permanent band member.
Fans on the night will enjoy hits such as This is the Day and Uncertain Smile, along with other songs where melodic, synthesised pop is combined with socio-political alternative rock.
