Time for Christmas lights to shine in Ryde
There are just a couple of weeks for homeowners and business owners from Gladesville and around the City of Ryde to get their entries in for this year’s Christmas Lights competition.
The annual competition is run by the City of Ryde Council, and winners receive cash prizes.
This year, there are three categories: one for businesses, one for individual houses and a best street award for streets where at least five houses are registered in the contest. A people’s choice award will also be announced following online voting.
First place in the individual categories will win $500, second place will receive $300 and third place gets $200. The people’s choice will also win $300.
The collection of homes judged as the best street will have new signs provided by the council to mark their win. Photos of the winning homes may also be used in full colour printing as promotional material for the council.
The winners of the three main categories will be decided by a panel of judges.
Entries must be registered by Tuesday, December 8 and judging takes place on Friday, December 11. The winners will be announced on Monday, December 14.
Voting for the People’s Choice award will be open from Wednesday, December 9 to Sunday, December 20 with the winner being revealed the following week.
For more information and entry forms, see the City of Ryde Council website.
