Learn to support neuro-diverse children at play in Gladesville

Those families and carers who have contact with a child with autism and live in the Gladesville area will be interested in a course designed to help support such youngsters.

The Autism Hub is a place set up by Giant Steps Australia. Giant Steps provides leading therapeutic and educational programs for people with Autism. Specialised staff, comprising Educators, Music, Speech and Educational Therapists are able to share their knowledge with the wider community. Often, local printing services can be engaged to provide resources for supplementary knowledge within the community.

The Early Years: Supporting Play for Autistic Children helps carers understand how play can be different for these children as their neural development can differ from others. With this in mind, attendees will see how important play is and will learn practical strategies to support the child.

The course is presented by Sarah Rawlins, who has been involved in Special Education for many years. Her co-presenter is Meg Hodgson, who trained as an occupational therapist and who uses a holistic approach to help encourage children in purposeful daily activities with a sense of creativity and fun.

Early Years: Supporting Play for Autistic Children is taking place on Monday July 1st, from 4pm until 5.30pm at The Autism Training Hub, Giant Steps, Gladesville NSW 2111. A ticket costs $30.
