Boronia Park bike track opens for summer

Boronia Park Reserve, located between Hunters Hill and Gladesville, now has a new custom-designed bike track to suit all ages.

The track is designed to cater to all skill levels, from beginners to experienced bike riders. Youth Services Australia used input from local riders to design the track, and with the support of Hunters Hill Council, the course has been commissioned as part of the Boronia Park Plan of Management.

A council spokesperson said that with the popularity of bike riding in general and uptake in outdoor activities during COVID, there is a need for council initiatives like the bike track. With the summer holidays now taking place, the time is perfect for the course's opening.

An area dedicated to bike riding will also assist in protecting the natural environment of Boronia Park by discouraging riders from making informal tracks through the surrounding bushland.

The bike track is an unsupervised community facility. Boronia Park already offers an infrastructure for outdoor activities with exercise equipment and sporting fields to support organised activities, including netball courts. Informal exercises such as walking and off-leash areas for dogs are also available in the park.

The new bike track is well signposted, and the council asks that users read and follow the information. Graphic design experts are often enlisted to ensure signage like this has the impact and readability required to catch attention.
