Wine, food and jazz on show at festival

Musician Geoff Power, who has been heralded as one of the country’s finest in the area of traditional jazz, will be featured in a full-day celebration at the North Shore Glen Street Theatre.

The venue has become a popular spot for music lovers from throughout the Warringah Council area, including Belrose, Collaroy, Beacon Hill, Allambie Heights, and Brookvale, New South Wales.

On August 9th, the theatre will celebrate Jazz in the Glen by combining fine wine, good food, and a full day’s program featuring leading jazz musicians.

Enthusiasts will be able to follow the music’s history, including a special performance by John Buchanan that will focus on the story of ragtime, allowing audiences to relive the special era between the late 19th Century and the 1920s.

During the afternoon, patrons will hear from the Dizzy Fingers Ragtime Band, followed at 5pm in the venue’s Sorlies Bistro with an inspiring mix of Dixieland classics performed by the Northside Jazz Band.

The entertainment program will culminate with a special Tribute to Louis Armstrong by featured performer Geoff Power and his band.

To round off a great evening, Louis Armstrong’s big hits of later years – including What A Wonderful World, Blueberry Hill, A Kiss to Build a Dream On, and Hello Dolly – will have audiences singing along.
