The State Government initiative has been launched to help businesses located in the Northern Beaches region recover from the impact of an emergency lockdown due to COVID-19 that occurred during the normally busy Christmas period.
Mayor of the Northern Beaches Michael Regan said local businesses and residents had made an outstanding effort to suppress the outbreak, but it had cost small businesses dearly, and he welcomed the $5,000 and $3,000 hardship cash grants on offer as part of the programme, adding:
“Grants, coupled with the Dine and Discover vouchers and a marketing campaign, will definitely help our business on the road to recovery."
Regan said a draft revival package aimed at boosting tourism within the Northern Beaches was currently on show for public comment and formed part of the Destination Management Plan. The marketing strategy will set a direction for marketing to tourists in coming years. Such marketing campaigns have often included the use of local printing services to produce professional tourism Brochures.
Businesses in the retail, lifestyle and hospitality sectors are believed to be among the hardest hit by the Christmas lockdown, and, according to a Small Business Minister Damien Tudehope, the grants will help with unavoidable costs, such as legal or financial advice, rent, utilities and other business support activities.
