The completed Place Strategy, which comes after extensive consultation within the Northern Beaches Community between July and September last year, centres on new infrastructure, open public areas, jobs and homes.
The NSW Government has also provided a grant of $6 million for upgrades at three of Frenchs Forest's local parks.
Homes and Planning Minister Anthony Roberts said the final plan had involved several years work to reach a positive outcome for people living, working and visiting the Northern Beaches suburb. He added:
“The plan will deliver 2000 new jobs as well as the infrastructure and services needed to support the growing Frenchs Forest community over the next 20 years.”
The minister said a central piazza, village green, improved public spaces and new links to bushland plus tree-lined cycling and walking paths were also included in the plan. Flyer printing campaigns are often carried out when major works such those planned for Frenchs Forest are underway.
According to Roberts, the community stands to benefit greatly from the new amenities, which will also include facilities that will encourage locals to maintain their health and fitness, such as a basketball half-court facility, track for riding mountain bikes, community playground and upgraded natural areas ideal for relaxation and walking.
Roberts said a $9m grant had also been provided for the council to improve Nandi Reserve.
