According to a Northern Beaches Council spokesperson, the closing date was extended following an influx of requests.
Offering over $40,000 in prizes across all nine categories, the non-acquisitive prize encourages designers and artists from around the nation to share their innovative and creative ideas for a greener and improved future that also compels change and reflects positively on the environment, according to the spokesperson, who added:
“The categories encompass a range of contemporary practices, from fashion and design to ceramics, painting, photography, digital media, functional and textile design and more.”
Leading thinkers and creative practitioners have come together to form the judging panel. They include leading fashion designer Kit Willow, artist Janet Laurence and Sydney University School of Architecture Design and Planning lecturer Dr Michael Mossman.
Flyer printing campaigns have often helped to spread the word about major competitions that invite entries from across the country, such as this leading design and environmental art prize.
Entries in the prize will now close at 5pm on 25 May. For those interested in viewing submissions of finalists in the competition, they will be on display from 5 to 28 August at the Pop Up Gallery in Mona Vale, the Creative Space at Curl Curl and Manly Museum and Art Gallery.
