Professional printing services have been used by the authorities to create The Little Book of Sydney Villages – a pocket-sized guide to some of the city’s areas that are not often visited by tourists or even locals.
The booklet says south Sydney has shed its industrial roots and is becoming an arts and entertainment hub, including the Alexandria and Green Square area. According to the guide, this part of the city:
“[…] punches above its weight with its urban redevelopment and destination shopping and eating.”
The guide includes details of local restaurants and cafés, in addition to music and entertainment venues and small businesses in each area.
Clover Moore, the lord mayor, said the council was dedicated to helping local businesses. She commented:
“Each one of Sydney’s villages offers its own distinctive tastes, cultures, and experiences. There are unexpected delights around every corner and The Little Book of Sydney Villages will be an invaluable guide for visitors and residents.”
The booklet was launched last month and will be available at the city’s information kiosks, council offices and libraries. The guide will be offered in English and Chinese, and it will also be available to view online via the council’s website.
