Wauwatosa families offered autism presentation

When their son or daughter receives a diagnosis of autism, parents can often find themselves feeling overwhelmed, and Wauwatosa families in this boat have been offered a learning opportunity that can help them navigate their new world.

The Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin will be offering its “New To Autism” class in an online format this fall, and it is free to participate. It will be hosted using the Zoom platform, which is scheduled to run for one hour.

During the presentation, the facilitator will discuss the ways autism spectrum disorders can impact both an individual and their family. They will learn about its characteristics and the supports that exist in their local community. There will be time to ask questions, and it will be led by a staff member of the host organization.

In an effort to make the workshop as useful as possible, the organizers noted that they will be sending out workshop materials ahead of time. These sorts of items can be sourced from area Stationery printers, which can also supply a wide selection of other printing services. While there’s no cost to attend, donations will be greatly appreciated.

This opportunity for Wauwatosa families impacted by autism to hit the ground running will be offered on November 12. The group hosting the activity has included additional details on its website.
