Wauwatosa community service project seeks helping hands

Residents of the Oak Park Assisted Living Facility will soon be shown some love, and locals have been asked to lend a hand with this community service project.

The Wauwatosa Police Department will be running its ‘Will You Be My Valentine?’ initiative to show seniors in the area that they are valued members of their community. Members of the public can get involved by adding their creative tallest to the occasion, and both adults and kids alike are encouraged to participate.

Those who register will receive a supply of pink hearts to decorate, which will then be taken by police officers to Oak Park where they will be distributed to residents. The goal is to bring some mid-winter cheer.

Laura Laurishke, who is the coordinator for the project, can be reached by anyone who would like to register or has questions at 414-471-8430, ext. 5111.

Community service projects combine hands-on fun with the satisfaction of helping those in need. Stationery printers will be able to ensure that the public knows about volunteer opportunities available in their home area by preparing a variety of marketing materials.

The Wauwatosa Police Department has put out a call to the area seeking support for this initiative. The community Valentines will be dropped off at Oak Park Assisted Living Facility on February 14, and everyone is welcome to get involved.
