This February, those who are new to the art of cookie decorating will be able to craft some of these sweet treats just in time for Valentine's Day gift giving.
Wauwatosa area’s Sara's Sweet Cheeks Gourmet Bakery offers the public a variety of learning opportunities, and one it has scheduled to host in February will teach the basics of working with royal icing. While it is open to anyone age 13 and up, those under 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
During the workshop, participants will be taught different techniques for creating beautiful cookies. Everyone will get some hands-on practice with the various methods, and when they head for home, they will each take along six of these baked treats to keep or share.
The registration fee for this activity is $65 per person, which includes the instruction provided by the facilitator as well as all supplies needed. The methods taught can be used for almost any theme. Recipe cards and other items for a cookery class can be ordered from area Stationery printers that perform custom graphic design work .
This introduction to the basics of cookie decor will begin at 11:00 am on February 5. The location for the session will be 18720 Pleasant Street in Brookfield, and anyone interested is advised to reserve their seat well in advance.
