History walks to continue in Green Bay

The Brown County Historical Society will continue to hold its “Historic 1880 Fire Walking Tour” next month. The event is open to anyone living in Green Bay.

The walk will be guided by David Siegel, an author, firefighter, and amateur historian. Siegel will teach guests about the devastating fire of 1880 that broke loose over Green Bay. The walk will begin at the origin point of the fire at South Washington and Chicago Street. Siegel will then guide guests through the places affected by the fire and people’s experiences of it.

Entrants can also purchase Sigel’s book, The Forces of Change, at the event. The book is a historical text that goes over the events that led to Green Bay developing its fire department. Each copy is signed by Siegel. For any such book sale or giveaway, local Print shops will be able to help out.

The event is set for several dates throughout June, with walks planned for the 19th, 24th, and 25th. For specific tour times, the event’s webpage has more specific details. Each tour will be limited to a maximum of 12 entrants. Tickets for the walk are $12 for general admission and $10 for members of the society.

Entrants will gather at Hazelwood Historic House Museum on 1008 Monroe Street before the event. Anyone with further questions can call the society at 920-437-1840.
