Feeding backyard birds is a hobby that is enjoyed by many, and a Green Bay activity will teach beginners how to attract a wide assortment of fine feathered friends.
The participants in the Fall and Winter Birds Feeding Extravaganza will discover how supplemental feeding at bird feeders and other stations can help the avian set survive the cold of a Wisconsin winter. Those who are interested can attend the function in person or online, and it is open to both Green Bay Botanical Garden members and non-members alike.
The function will explore how different foods can attract different species, and why it is important to include lots of high energy seeds such as black oil sunflower. The attendees will learn how to create blends that can attract a wide variety of species and also why shelter makes a difference, and ID tips will be shared as well. At the end of the activity, the participants should all go home with a better understanding of this simple form of environmental stewardship.
Many learning activities see materials handed out to the registrants so that they can continue to learn once it has drawn to a close. Stationery printers will be happy to provide this service.
This opportunity to get a grounding in how to prepare a banquet for wild birds is scheduled to be held on November 16. It will begin at 6:00 pm.
