The initiative will help residents of Wisconsin’s cities such as Green Bay to deal with the mental health issues and stress that may come with the coronavirus pandemic. According to Governor Evers:
“We are announcing Resilient Wisconsin today, in the middle of this pandemic, because building resilience is how we will band together and grow as a state in the face of COVID-19. Resilience is not the absence of stress, but rather, using tools to manage and adapt and recover from that stress.”
Andre Palm, who is Secretary-designee for DHS Wisconsin, said that some of the tools in the initiative help people to care for themselves when tough challenges emerge. He notes that self-care is important because taking care of oneself leads to taking care of others. Banner printing could be used to promote such an initiative.
The Resilient Wisconsin initiative will also give specific guidelines to medical professionals, first responders, caregivers, and parents. The Governor also mentioned how despite the fact that social distancing is important, it is also vital to maintain human connections and check up on each other. Hotlines have been set up so that people who are finding it difficult to cope can find help.
