Green Bay packs in for a 5K with the Packers

Bellin Health is teaming up with Green Bay’s favorite football team to put together the Packers 5k Run/Walk. The athletic competition is open to participants of all ages and promises prizes, healthy exercise, and a cameo by Packers players of the past.

The course starts out on Lombardi Ave., runs through some of the side streets of Green Bay, goes around Lambeau Field’s rubber track, and then comes to a finish in the parking lot. Banners mark the starting and end points, but there will also be a replica of the 50-yard line to denote the finish line.

Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place finishers in each division - of which there are 32 spanning from children all the way to seniors over 75 - as well as prizes for the top three finishers overall. Entry into the race includes a time chip, a race bib, a T-shirt, and a bag, all featuring a special Logo Design for the event.

The day before the event, children under 10 can also opt to run a 1K, which will run around the rubber track and finish on the replica turf outside Lambeau Field. Several Packers alumni will be at both the children’s run and the 5K, and many will run in the event itself, giving fans the opportunity to participate alongside their heroes.

The Packers 5k Run/Walk will take place on July 23 at 8:00 am at Lambeau Field, located at 1265 Lombardi Ave. Entry is $30 for adults and $20 for youth. Anyone interested in participating can find more information on the website.
