This September, the Green Bay area will be the location for a walk that will raise both funds and awareness about what it means to be neurodivergent.
The Autism Society of Northeast Wisconsin (ASNEW) recently announced that it will be bringing its Autism Awareness Walk back for its 16th year, and everyone is welcome. The function is scheduled to take place at Green Isle Park in Allouez, and it has been timed so that the walkers will have an early start to their day.
The route registrants will follow will be 2.1 miles, and all levels of ability and ages can participate, with mobility devices such as wheelchairs and rollators being welcome. Snacks and water will be supplied so that everyone can stay hydrated, and while they enjoy the outing, those in attendance will be able to meet other non-neurotypicals and their families, building a strong support network.
Many of those who plan a fundraiser also want to raise awareness of the cause. Banner printing companies will be happy to help, and can provide materials that will grab the attention of passers-by.
Green Isle Park will be the location for this morning of grassroots level advocacy on September 17. It will be kicking off at 8:30 am, and the registration area will open at 7:30 am.
